Roads
There are three types of road in France:

Minor Roads (indicated by a ‘D')

Motorways (indicated by an ‘A')

National Roads (indicated by an ‘N')


Speed Limits in France
French police can check your speed anywhere and everywhere … anytime.
•    50 km/h in towns (31mph)
•    90 km/h on main roads (56 mph)
•    110 km/h on dual carriage ways (68 mph)
•    130 km/h on motorways (81mph)
•    In poor weather conditions (rain, fog,…) speed limits are reduced to 90 km/h on dual carriage ways and to 110 km/h on motorways.

N.B.
A fine between 135 - 375 Euros can be issued for not wearing a seatbelt.
