Access in Auvergne:

Road:

From Paris, the A10 to Orleans followed by the A71 to Clermont-Ferrand. 

From Lyon, the A72 runs west straight to Clermont-Ferrand

From Bordeaux, the A89 is nearing completion and runs past Mussidan - Périgueux - Brive-la-Gaillarde - Tulle to Clermont-Ferrand.

The Nearest TGV service is to St Etienne.

There are TIR services to the northern Auvergne to such communities as Clermont-Ferrand, Aurillac, Mills and Le Puy.

Airport:

The International Airport is Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne whilst there are 3 other airports with domestic flights: Montlucon-Gueret, Aurillac Airport / Airport Tronquières and Puy-en-Velay / Loudes

Just outside the Auvergne is Lyon Airport and to the south Rodez.

Auvergne has a surface area of over 26,013 km² and a population of 1,337,000 inhabitants. It is a mainly mountainous region with the Massif Central. The main towns are Clermont-Ferrand, Aurillac, Le Puy and Mills.

Mount Dore and Super Besse are the best known ski areas.
