Places of interest in Upper Normandy :

Upper Normandy offers a vast mixture of calm horizons, soft undulating plateaux which extend from Pays de Caux to Pays d'Ouche.

The Alabaster Coast :

Extending from Le Tréport to Le Havre, it's striking chalk cliffs, higher than 100 metres in places are lapped gently by the sea.

Le Pays de Caux - le Pays de Bray - Le Vexin Normand :

Pays de Bray is an area of orchards and rich pastures, contrasting with Pays de Caux and Vexin Normand, a land of grand limestone outcrops dramatically overlooking the sea and the Seine.

L'Epte used to be a frontier defended by many fortresses, (Baudement, la Bresle bordered by the forests of Lyons and d'Eu; the Bethume and a dozen other rivers have flowed through this chalky mass of verdant ravines.

Le Pays d'Ouche:

Further south, a narrow bubbling river flows down to Perche winding across plateaux of dense forest. La Touques, the Charentonne, the Iton and many others are found here like the valley of Eure, are dotted with picturesque corners of architectural beauty.

La Vallée de la Seine :

The meandering river bound by cliffs and fringed by small roads; at each turn the valley seems richer and more colourful (forests of Vernon, Louviers, Brotonne...) finally reaching the sea.
For centuries the only way to penetrate the valley, the riverside communities were subject to a diverse mix of commercial, intellectual and religious influences. Rich in memories, picturesque places of interest, gastronomically appealing, this vital artery which links Paris with the sea is one of the biggest tourist wonders of the region.

The Norman architecture peculiar to Normandy itself, England and Wales, South Italy and Sicily and the Near East is exemplified at its most accomplished in such exceptional masterpieces as the cathedrals of ROUEN, EVREUX, BAYEUX, COUTANCES and SEES or the older portions of the abbey church on the MONT-ST-MICHEL.

If there is a land designed for gardens, its got to be Normandy. The light from the skies and the mild climate are just two of the factors which contribute to the subtle and enchanting allure of the gardens.

The parks and gardens of Normandy, whether botanical, landscape or historic have become important points of reference. Connoisseurs as well as novices will be enthralled by the wealth of different species as well as the beauty of the individual sites.
